August 23-- People having interest in Buddhist philosophy have been attracted to the exhibition of paintings entitled ‘Buddha’s Faces’ by artist Sandhya Regmi. This is her seventh solo painting exhibition, state-owned news agency RSS reports.

There is encouraging participation of people of various walks of life in the exhibition started at the Nepal Art Council at Babarmahal from Saturday. The exhibition is to last until August 24.
Engineer by profession, Regmi has depicted in the canvas various forms of Buddha on the basis of geometry.
The paintings reflect the peaceful mood of the Buddha – the peace of mind, compromise with nature and the concentration of the meditation. They are painted in blue, green and bright colors.
Regmi has also depicted the moods of the great poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota and litterateur Jhamak Kumari Ghimire as monks.
Prasanna Shakya, a visitor says Regmi’s paintings are created with much labour and can be an inspiration for establishing peace. Engineer Ram Sainju says he was also much influenced by the paintings.
The most expensive of the paintings is ‘inner peace’, which costs Rs. 500,000. Four paintings priced at Rs. 500,000 have already been sold. She plans to gift some of them to the museum in Lumbini.
Regmi, daughter of politician Kamal Raj Regmi is an engineer of electric energy from Germany and masters in environment engineering from Singapore.
